Styleframe

First stylesheet for Haunt. Not completely happy with it, i need the style to be far more dynamic and exciting. I am thinking i may have to mix in some 3D just so that is not so flat. My Twisted Fairytales animations from last year looked much the same as this example, which was a style choice for those but i think it needs to be far more complex for what i am wanting to achieve. But progress!

Hello and Welcome!

Welcome to the Haunt Production Blog!

Everything related to the production of my new short animation Haunt will appear sporadically in this space. Haunt is the story of a ghost who haunts your typical Victorian-era style house on a street. The ghost (Haunt) was content living in the house with the old woman that owned it, keeping to himself and leaving the old woman ignorant of his existance. But one day she accidentally caught site of him and in shock she tripped down the stairs and broke her leg. The house was then put on the market and Haunt scared everyone who came to look at the house so that he could be left alone, feeling guilty for frightening the old lady.

A pretty young girl comes to look at the house and when Haunt is about to frighten her he is captured by her beauty and falls in love. He remains unseen as the girl moves into the house and begins decorating it as she see's fit, Haunt watches her - often helping her without her knowing it i.e. a vase is about to fall off the table and he catches it and puts it safely back on. A couple of days her boyfriend visits and Haunt watches him angrily (jealous), even allowing the man to catch occasional glance of him in an attempt to subtly scare him. One night he stays over, the couple head to the bedroom and Haunt watches on in a silent rage. The man later wakes to find Haunt hovering a metre above him staring threatingly at him, the man screams but when the girl wakes up - Haunt is gone.

The man runs out (breaking up with the girl) which leaves the girl devastated and alone, seeing this Haunt feels guilty once again. The girl mopes around the house for days removing all signs of the boyfriend from her life. Haunt feels so terrible that he finally appears to her one night in an attempt to say sorry has flowers to give to her. The girl gets such a fright that she dies, which Haunt panics about and runs to the attic where he lives. As he watches the ambulance officers remove her body through the window he feels terrible and throws the flowers across the room. He hears a noise downstairs and rushes down there to find another ghost standing in the entrance hal looking around - it is the ghost of the girl. He stares at her not knowing what to do, and she smiles at him, and reaches out a ghostly hand which he takes.

So there you have the story. Concept art has begun, still deciding upon a style for animation etc. Will post some of these concepts up momentarilly.
